Gregg Anston-Race
-
Gregg Anston-Race is a British glass artist.
After studying Art and Design at college in Cornwall, Gregg was lucky enough to work for two years in a glass studio where he began to develop a passion for the medium. To pave the way for a future in glass work, he set up an independent studio on the Devon Cornwall border, working without wage for the first two years. Gregg now works out of this space to create his glass artworks.
Gregg’s fascination with glass is found within its organic richness, texture and colours. Although it's been around for centuries, there are still new techniques to be devised. He loves to experiment - combining ideas and processes, which has helped him to understand how glass reacts when it is fired. Devoting time to learning and playing with glass in this way has given him the knowledge to produce the vibrant and luminous effects we see on the surface of his vessels.
Gregg’s work is constantly evolving. He currently works with glass powders, frit and mineral foils; mediums that allow for more fluid and dramatic effects with beautiful colour combinations.
