Phil Jolley’s hand-built vessel forms suggest what might have once been; his work includes fragments, archaeological finds, remains, and architectural features. Phil enjoys the idea of reusing found objects and loves hidden detail with layers of both clay and glaze.
Many of the sprigs and stamps on Phil’s vessels are taken from found objects or architectural details. He continually experiments with combinations of these clays and surface additions, discovering or collecting new objects to make new sprigs from.
